Located in Southeast Asia, Vietnam draws people for many
different reasons. No matter the reason you visit the country,
you're going to be astounded by what you see. While the Vietnam
war isn't forgotten, foreigners are treated quite a bit
different in the 21st century. Modern Vietnam is a united
communist country and isn't the richest country in the world,
but they are more stable than some of their neighbors - like
Cambodia for instance. Because of the local economy, Vietnam is
actually a good place to visit because your money will go a
little longer.
Weather in Vietnam for Travelers
South Vietnam Weather - In
the southern part of the country, you can expect hot and dry
(March to May), rainy and wet (June to November), or cool and
dry (December to February.) As you might imagine, December
through February are popular times to travel to South Vietnam
for many reasons, whether it's escaping the heat of your home
country or finding the best time to see South Vietnam.
Central Vietnam Weather -
Central Vietnam acts as a buffer of sorts between the two
types of weather in North and South Vietnam. September through
February can be particularly unpleasant months to be in
Central Vietnam.
North Vietnam Weather - The
weather in North Vietnam follows the four typical seasons,
with both spring and autumn being mild and pleasant for the
most part. In the highlands in North Vietnam, it's a slightly
different story, where the extremes are amplified.
Fun and Interesting Destinations in Vietnam
Hanoi - This bustling city
is the capital of Vietnam and is a big draw for tourists. You
may have heard of the Hanoi Hilton, which isn't an actual
hotel, but is a place where prisoners were held during the
Vietnam war.
Ho Chi Minh City - Formerly
known as Saigon, this is the economic power of South Vietnam.
If you want to see the side of Vietnam that is doing a little
better, this is the city to see as it strives toward the
future.
Phan Thiet - If you're
going to Vietnam to have a little resort vacation, this is the
city you want to visit as it truly is the resort capital of
Vietnam in more ways than one.
Cu Chi - Here you can see
the Cu Chi in person. It's quite a site to see. If you're in
the area you should check it out.
Ha Long Bay - If you're in
Vietnam for scenery that is out of this world, you want to
stop here. This is the scenic Vietnam at its best.
Why Travel to Vietnam?
This is a fair question, but if you stop and think about it,
there are actually many different reasons to travel to this
country in Southeast Asia. Whether you have an interest in
history and want to see where the Vietnam War took so many
lives, or you want to experience the modern Vietnam that is
still trying to rebuild, there's going to be something for you
to see. Vietnamese - not an easy language to master - is the
primary language spoke (with different dialects throughout the
country.) That said, many young Vietnamese people speak a little
bit of English. As far as money is concerned, US currency is
taken and even preferred in some places in the country. Be safe
with your money as you would be anywhere, though.
